ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The city council voted to extend its ban on medical marijuana dispensaries because conflicting state and federal laws make their legal status unclear.
The council's vote Tuesday extends an existing one-year moratorium on pot clubs for another year, said City Manager Steve Donley.
Donley said the city will monitor pending legal cases and legislation before deciding whether to adopt a permanent ban or draft an ordinance to regulate dispensaries.
Santa Rosa, which has two pot clubs, is the only city in Sonoma County with official regulations on dispensaries. No one has attempted to open a pot club in Rohnert Park, Donley said.
