(CBS) GLENDORA, Calif. Drugs, tattoos and massage parlors have been outlawed in Glendora, even though the city has no tattoo parlors or medical marijuana dispensaries, it was reported Monday.
The city tightened regulations on how and where massages can be given in Glendora, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.
The city has launched a preemptive crackdown and placed a moratorium on establishing tattoo parlors and medical marijuana clinics, the newspaper reported.
The City Council voted for the vice "preventative housekeeping" measures Oct. 10, according to the Tribune.
"I'd say we tend to be on the conservative side, pro-family, tending toward things that would perhaps shield the community from influences that they have decided are negative," said Dick Swinney, a Glendora resident and local historian.
Mayor Doug Tessitor told the newspaper that the city has an obligation to make sure laws are up to date in case the businesses try to set up in the future. The massage ordinance aims to prevent sexually tinged massages or outright prostitution, the newspaper reported.
